祈禱是我們與天主的愛的關係
Prayer is not just an activity. Prayer is all about our loving relationship with God. Like any loving relationship with q beloved, we need to invest on it constantly to make it grow and mature. In prayer, we need to invest our precious time, energy and very self to deepen our intimacy with the Lord. There is no such thing a “instant intimacy” with God. One of the surest signs that we lack intimacy with God is when we go out of our way to seek him only in times of need.
祈禱不是一項活動，祈禱是一段關係，是我們與天主的愛的關係。如同任何愛人之間的互動，我們需要為這段愛的關係有所投資，持之以恆，讓這愛成長與綻放。在祈禱中，我們除了需要投入我們寶貴的時間與精力，我們更需要將我們「整個的自己」投入其中，好建立我們與天主的親密關係。對於天主而言，沒有所謂 「速成的」親密關係。我們可以用一個跡象來檢視我們和天主之間是否失去了這份親密：我們是否只有在我們有所需求的時候，才前去尋找天主？
God is most pleased when we give our quality time, presence and self to him in
prayer.
在祈禱中，最能討天主歡心的，莫過於我們將我們的時間、我們的臨在、
我們整個的自己，奉獻給天主
One key concern, especially for busy “prayers” is finding quality time to pray. We need to realize that giving our time to formal prayer is giving our presence to him. And giving our presence to God himself is giving our very selves to him. And nothing pleases God more when we give our precious quality time, very presence and very self to him.
特別是對於一位忙碌的祈禱者而言，最重要的是，他能夠撥出一段高品質的時間，專務祈禱。我們要明白，撥出時間專務祈禱，就是向天主呈現我們的臨在；而向天主呈現我們的臨在，就是將我們自己奉獻給天主。因此最中悅天主的，就是我們將我們寶貴的時間、我們的臨在、以及我們自己，奉獻給祂。
• The interior disposition of our heart is most important in prayer.
在祈禱中，心中的純正意向是最重要的
What we say to God in prayer and how we say it is important. However, this should not be the primary concern of ours in prayer. A far greater concern should be the interior disposition of our hearts. This is what God looks at. This is what he is attentive to. And this is what he truly value. As such, we need to make sure that our hearts are well disposed to encounter him in prayer. A heart that is – humble, transparent, sincere, patient, generous, trusting, loving, and above all child-like, is a heart that is well disposed to meet God in prayer.
在祈禱中，我們向天主說什麼以及如何說固然重要；然而，這兩者並非我們的優先考量。我們最應注重的，是我們心中的純正意向，而這也是天主所優先看重的。天主看的是人心。因此，我們必須自我檢視，看看我們是否備妥心靈，好在祈禱中遇見天主。一顆謙遜、透明、真誠、耐心、慷慨、信任，又充滿愛情的赤子之心，代表我們心中的純正意向，準備好在祈禱中與天主相遇。

Choose your prayer place and prayer time well. Do not rush when praying.
好好地選擇祈禱的場所和時間，祈禱時切勿倉促匆忙
We must never rush our prayer. First, look for a good place and a good time for prayer. Take time to prepare well before actually entering into formal prayer. Learn to quiet and settle down. Learn to befriend silence. Take time also, at the start of our prayer, to acknowledge explicitly God’s presence. Remember that indeed the Lord and Creator of the universe is here, truly present before us, even beholding us with much love.
永遠不要趕著祈禱。首先，好好找一個適合祈禱的地方和一段專務祈禱的時間。在進入正式的祈禱前，慢慢來，好好準備。學習定下心來把自己安頓好，安靜會是你的良伴益友。在開始祈禱時，花點時間慢慢地意識到天主的真實臨在。想一想上主我們的天主，宇宙的創造者，此時此刻，真實臨在，祂以慈愛的目光，注視著我們。
• Selection of prayer points is very important.
選擇祈禱的內容很重要
Choose your prayer matter or points well. The more our prayer matter address truthfully our here and now present concerns and needs and the more they make us pray with our hearts, rousing our feelings and affections, our consolations and desolations, the better our prayer becomes. Remember in formal prayer, we always come before the Lord as we are, and the Lord always takes us as we are.
好好地選擇祈禱的內容。我們祈禱的內容，越是能真實地反映我們此時此刻的關切與需求，我們就越能夠用心來祈禱，因為我們內在的需求，喚起我們的感受與情緒、慰藉與孤單，這些都幫助我們作更好的祈禱。永遠記得，在正式的祈禱中，我們如實地來到上主天主的面前，而天主也將接納最真實的自我。
• We need to learn to pray more with our hearts and less with our minds.
祈禱中，我們需要學習多用心，少用腦
What are your deepest concerns now? What is moving and affecting you most significantly now? What are your deepest joys, hopes and desires now? What are your greatest fears, hurts, pains and insecurities now? We need to bring before the Lord those experiences that really matter to us and those that really affect us now most deeply. When we do this, then we slowly learn to pray more with our hearts and less with our minds, then prayer becomes truly a loving relationship with our God.
現在，你最深的關切是什麼？現在，是什麼觸動影響你最深？現在，你最深的喜悅、希望、和渴望是什麼？現在，什麼是你最深的恐懼、傷害、痛苦、和不安？我們必須將這些最深刻的內在經驗帶到上主面前，這些經驗此時此刻正深深地影響著我們。當我們這麼作，我們就會慢慢學習用心而不是用腦來祈禱。這時我們的祈禱，就會真正地成為一段與天主之間的愛的關係。
• Writing down the fruits of our prayer in a journal can help us pray better.
寫靈修筆記紀錄我們祈禱的果實，可以幫助我們祈禱得更好
Writing, oftentimes, can help us pray better and clarify many things to us. Take time to write down on a prayer journal the fruits of your prayer. We can do this during and especially after our formal prayer period.
寫作往往可以幫助我們釐清思想，祈禱得更好。找時間在靈修筆記裡記錄祈禱的成果，我們可以在我們正式的祈禱中，或特別是在祈禱後，寫我們的靈修筆記。
• Prayer must animate love in us and love must animate prayer in us.
祈禱的果實是愛德，愛德的果實是祈禱
The ultimate success-indicator of our prayer life is charity. The way we pray should affect and promote the way we love. The way we encounter God in our silent desert should influence and enhance genuinely the way we serve and love our neighbour(s) in the busy market place. And also, the way we love should animate our prayer and help us become better praying people.
我們是否善度祈禱生活的終極指標，在於我們的愛德。我們如何祈禱，我們就如何愛人，祈禱與愛德彼此幫助，兩相輝映。我們如何在心靈的曠野中與天主相遇，我們就如何在繁忙的塵世中與人相遇，我們將學習如何以一顆真誠的心愛主愛人，為近人服務。同時，我們的愛情也會激發我們的祈禱，並幫助我們成為更好的祈禱者。
